Book: Patchwork Embroidery

Book cover

I have been so busy I forgot to share the news!

The latest Aimee Ray’s book Patchwork Embroidery was released in November.

I contributed 3 projects to the book. The projects were designed by me, Aimee provided the art work and I made the items. All the projects have a patchwork component as well as embroidery.

Have a look at my projects. Which one do you like best?

A tic-tac-toe board

This one is my favourite and the easiest to make of the 3.

The book is beautiful, as all Aimee’s books are. I totally recommend it – disclaimer: I’m not making any money out of this book because I made the projects on commission.

How to make polka dot diamond smocking

This is a very easy fabric manipulation that uses the fabric print as a grid.

This fabric manipulation can be used on a block, on a bag, or on clothing.

Sew how I used this fabric manipulation on a textured quilt.

These two blocks are quick and easy to make.  Both are made in a similar way but the blocks are slightly different.

How to make variation 1 of the buzz saw block

Notes

You may find that if you cut your strips at 2 1/2 inch intervals, the last strip will be less than 2 1/2 inches. You can see that on the video. That’s because the half square triangle is 9 1/2 inches square not 10.

That doesn’t affect the end result. Just sew the narrower strip with a scant 1/8 inch seam allowance to compensate a bit.

Both blocks can be made scrappy.
