Video tutorial: Kaleidoscope blocks

Video tutorial: Kaleidoscope quilt blocks

This block gives an impression of curves but all blocks have straight lines. This kaleidoscope block is quick and easy to make and it makes great quilts.

I chose to make this block with paper piecing because it has many points and it’s easier to sew accurately with this technique.

Print the template twice for 1 block. Alternate the colours to make 2 different blocks.

Tips

For best results, use two different colour fabrics of similar value, for instance two light fabrics or two medium fabrics.

The quilt has two visual interpretations depending on whether you focus on the windmill pattern or on the negative space of the quilt, which is a bracket shape.

In the 15 page pattern I have included lots of diagrams and written instructions, traditional templates, foundation piecing templates, colour scheme suggestions as well links to 3 of my video tutorials.

A million thanks to the testers who helped make this pattern great.

I hope you like my quilt and enjoy making it.
