Broken dishes quilt block with layer cakes – video tutorial

Is it too early for a Christmas quilt?

Since lock down every day feels like a week and every week like a month.

Today I have a classic block which is perfect to make a quick quilt.

The demo uses pre-cut 10″ squares, also called layer cakes, from the Michael Miller Collection Fairy Frost Metallic. In red and green this would make a great Christmas quilt.

See an alternative and classy colour scheme with this collection in creams, greys and blacks.

Check out all the variations for this block at the end of the video.

My book Turnabout Patchwork

“Turnabout Patchwork. Simple quilts with a twist” is all about playing with blocks – making a block, slicing it up, and turning or repositioning the pieces to make a completely different block (sometimes two smaller blocks) to yield endless quilt tops.
