Easy face mask video tutorial

Face mask video tutorial

If you’re sick, in order to protect others, the best advice is to stay home and stay away from others.

If you can’t just stay home then you should wear a face mask as well as wash your hands properly and frequently and follow the advice of the health authorities in your country.

Some pharmacies have run out of masks so I thought it would be a good idea to show you  how you can make one quickly and easily using some beautiful fabrics – check out the cat fabric in the video (details below).

And while you’re at it, and particularly if you can’t leave the home because of restrictions, you could use the time to  make a few for your family and friends.

NOTE: I used cotton fabrics, so they may not be as effective as the material used in medical masks but certainly they’re better than nothing if you’re sick and can’t buy one anywhere.

The World Health Organisation website gives some advice  on when to wear a face mask .

I hope you stay well during the COVID-19 outbreak. All the best!

My book Turnabout Patchwork

“Turnabout Patchwork. Simple quilts with a twist” is all about playing with blocks – making a block, slicing it up, and turning or repositioning the pieces to make a completely different block (sometimes two smaller blocks) to yield endless quilt tops.

  2. Here’s a link to D-I-Y surgical masks. Maybe you, Natasha, and Stella could make some together for fun. And don’t forget Josh, I’m sure you can find some Spiderman fabric!

  3. Hospitals have a very limited supply of N95 masks. They are preserving those masks by using the cotton masks over the N95 mask. That way they can keep using the N95 mask all day, just changing out the cotton masks between patients.
