The quilt on the cover of the book is called Flying rainbows. It illustrates the basic concept of my book Turnabout patchwork.

So easy yet so versatile. You will find 1 quilt pattern featuring this block in the book and 3 illustrated quilt-pattern variations.
So you can see all the variations in a real project we’re joined by Anorina of Samelia’s mum, Tammy of Tamarinis, Becca of Pretty Piney, Laura of Slice of π Quilts, Gretchen of Snug Harbor Quilts, Raewyn of Stitching Farmgirl and Sarah of Saroy
These fantastic quilt designers and quilters have made projects using a modern shoo fly block. Don’t forget to check their blogs to see their great work as well, read their experience with my book and enter their giveaways.
Giveaway!
This giveaway is CLOSED.

Today I’m giving away one of my patterns, The 4 seasons of the heart, which is a bit similar to Modern Shoofly.
The pattern contains instructions to make 4 quite different looking quilts using the same starting 9-patch block. The pattern has instructions to make all 4 quilts in different sizes: crib, lap, twin and queen.
You can see all the variations on this video.
To win, tell us in the comments which one is your favourite quilt made with this block: Flying Rainbows, Flying Butterflies, Flying Flags or Flying Confetti.
While you’re checking the quilts don’t forget to enter the giveaways on my fellow quilters and designers blogs.

Order my book Turnabout Patchwork
“Turnabout Patchwork. Simple quilts with a twist” is all about playing with blocks – making a block, slicing it up, and turning or repositioning the pieces to make a completely different block (sometimes two smaller blocks) to yield endless quilt tops.

I think Flying Confetti is my favorite pattern! I love to make traditional blocks and cut them apart to create a “oohhh, that looks hard” block! Loving your book!

Flying Confetti is my favorite. I am very symmetrical in nature which this pattern is, but yet it is mixed up too!

I like Flying Rainbows best right now. The bright colors probably tip the balance in its favor.

Love your book! I have a copy all ready. My favourite from this block would be the Flying Flags, but I’m seeing sailboats in there. Planning to give it a try to see what happens.

I feel a mighty need to make a quilt using the Spring Fever variation. I’ve got a collection of France-themed fabrics that would make for a very interesting quilt, especially if I pair the prints with a hint-of-a-print batik.
