When I made this block a couple of weeks ago, I saw so much potential that I gave it a go again, this time using print fabrics in red and black and white as the main fabric.
The mini quilt above is made with 4 modern 12 inch blocks. Each block is made with four half square triangles (HSTs).
How I made this block
- Ten 10 inch x 1 1/2 inch strips in assorted prints or colours (the scrappier the better)
- One 10 inch square piece of white fabric
This tutorial makes 4 HSTs which, arranged in different ways, make different blocks. Each block can make one or more quilt layouts.
After I finish playing with this block -and I don’t think I’m done yet!- I’ll most likely make a quilt, or two. It will be difficult to choose a particular block or colour scheme.
You can arrange the four pieces in very different layouts to make a quilt.
