Materials
- 3 different fabrics in assorted colours/designs
- bias tape
- velcro
- a felt pear
- stranded cotton to match felt or fabric
- batting
Cut 2 rectangles of fabric and one of batting measuring 25 in x 10 3/4 in for front and back of slip cover. I used different fabric for the inside and the outside.
Cut 1 rectangle measuring 25 in x 8 in, fold in half, and place the pear in place and stitch around.

Press fabric and stitch all over the edge.

Mark where the velcro will be placed in the inside fabric and the outside, place velcro on it, and stitch in place.

Make a sandwich with the large fabric rectangles and place the pocket on top of the side that will show in the outside. Pin in place.

Place bias tape on one side of the sandwich, pin in place and stitch by machine then finish off border by hand.
 |
Fold the rectangle sandwich in 3 and pin in place.
 |
Pin the bias tape around the edges and pin all around.
 |
Stitch in place. Finish off the border by hand.

This is really cute and I wish my sister already owned an iPad (I’ve convinced her she needs one, but she hasn’t bought one yet) so I could make this for her.

This pattern call for the pieces to be cut 25 x 10.75 inches and calls for three fat quarters. A fat quarter is only 18 x 21 inches. Kind of messed me up. Cute, but inaccurate.

This is really cute and I want to make it for my friend who just got an iPad, but I have a question. Is there also an interior pocket that the iPad slips into? Did I miss something in the directions? Thanks.

If you look at the pictures, in particular picture 9, you will see there’s a pocket for the iPad where you slip it in.

Hi – do you know if this cover will fit the ipad 2?

Good question. The iPad 2 is smaller than the original iPad for which I made this slipcase.
iPad2: 9.50 x 7.31 x 0.34 in (241.2 x 185.7x 8.8 mm)
Original iPad’s: 9.56 x 7.47 x 0.5 in (242.8 x 189.7 x 13.4 mm)
If you use the dimensions given in the tutorial my guess is that the slipcase won’t be as tight fitting. You could adjust the dimensions a bit by making the rectangles shorter by 1/4 inch or so around.
